This part of Thailand has a history of being stigmatized, because it's part of the Golden Triangle and it is scarred by social inequality and the lack of public services such as schools and hospitals. During the 3 months that I spent in Phrao, I had the chance to be in contact with the valley's people and the mountain tribes, the famous" Hill Tribes ". Far from tourist traps, I was able to observe and the inhabitants have kept their sense of hospitality, despite daily hardships. It's a strongly appreciated quality that tends to be hard to find in southern Thailand and in the big cities. Phrao is a breathtaking valley with rice fields and majestic mountains as far as the eye can see. There are mysterious temples, surprising waterfalls, and amazing sunsets.  Phrao, it's the peace and tranquility of nature in the wild.
