The town offers a lot of cultural interestwith its different historic monuments such as the temple tower of Jeongsa or the Tangeumdae Terrrace. Nearby you can find Wolaksan park, not as well known as others, but which is worth leaving the town to go walking along its pathways. The landscape is very beautiful, along with the surrounding countryside, and you can find dotted around everywhere little Buddhist temples spread over the mountain, one of them with a low relief of the Buddha some dozen metres tall. 
Chungju lake is a huge artificial lake built for the town's hydro-electric dam. There are a lot of activities you can do on the lake. 
The town's festival of martial arts was originally established to make people discover taekkyon, a Korean martial art, and has since obtained international recognition. There are many stands and activities during this time, and this is how you can discover traditions during your trip to Korea.
