As I'm not a fan of mass tourism, I don't agree with the big investments which have significantly transformed this island. I was mainly attracted to White beach, a long white sandy beach which is still stunning despite significant development. Divided into three sections, station 1 is the most expensive with its many resorts and restaurants. Station 2 is in the middle as it's a little less expensive and boasts a good mix of lively restaurants and clubs. "Station 3" on the other hand, the one closest to the port, is the most economical and appropriate station for backpackers and independent travellers. I actually found that the beach in that section was more pleasant and less crowded than the beaches of the other sectors.  On this fine sandy beach with its tall palm trees, you'll be spoiled for choice while on holiday in the Philippines as there are several water sports to try out. When the wind's perfect, I'd recommend trying something which is as eco-friendly as it is pleasant: spend a few hours sailing with the chance of a bit of snorkelling (even though the sites are almost completely destroyed) , go on a tour around the island, or maybe even have a go at cliff diving if you want some real adventure!  Kitesurfing or windsurfing enthusiasts can go to Bulabog Beach which is opposite White beach. Those seeking a bit of peace and quiet should head north to discover Diniwid Beach, for example. Finally, Boracay is ideal for a party holidays with its leisure activities and water sports. However, I must remind you that uncontrolled development continues to degrade and distort the island day after day. Be responsible!
