Having heard about Apo Island when I was visiting the Island of Siquijor, I was curious to see the volcanic gas emissions that have made the seabed here so famous.
It's relatively easy to reach Apo Island from Dumaguete: everyone in the area is familiar with it and knows how to get there.
If you are travelling on a limited budget, I recommend first taking a jeepney from Dumaguete to Malapatay (where a popular market is held on Wednesdays) then heading down to the shore to buy your boat tickets. There are a variety of options available at all kinds of prices (depending on the number of people travelling, the time of day, etc.).
Apo Island is a very tranquil place where life is dictated by the rhythms of the sun. Its beaches are deserted, and the presence of all the boats is the only thing there is to remind you that the seabed is home to such natural marvels.
