The popular little town of El Nido seemed more like a logical stop-off point than a place of interest in its own right. Nevertheless it does have some positive features, its crescent-shaped beach, for example – along which the atmosphere gets quite lively at night (I recommend the reggae bar - its chairs are set out on the sand, and it has live music) – and the possibility of reaching the Coron by boat and, of course, of organising excursions to the famous Bacuit Archipelago. The public market (a 10-minute walk from outside of town) is a great for a friendly, sociable dinner, and offers excellent opportunities to enjoy fish, meat and fresh vegetables. Austria Lodge makes its barbecue is free of charge and available for you to grill your own feast like a king - enjoy your own tuna, squid and other foods, all for very little cost!   In the end, with its various very beautiful beaches, which can all be reached by motorised tricycle, and the direct access to the archipelago, El Nido turned out to be an enjoyable part of my <a href="/philippines/">trip to the Philippines</a>.
