I only made a brief visit to this lake myself (just time for a quick, high-altitude snack then off we headed). The enticing prospect of bathing in hot water springs and taking the strain off our muscles had accelerated the pace of every member of the group. Nevertheless, I've been left with vivid memories of the stunning spectacle that suddenly appeared before me as I rounded a bend: Lake Viconga is immense and lies surrounded by quite spectacular, majestic scenery. Everything seems to be on such a grand scale here. And rendering the whole scene even more picturesque, here's an additional, and charming, little detail: this is the favourite spot of a herd of alpacas. Some people had set up camp by the side of this dark blue expanse of water, probably to take advantage of the peace and tranquillity the location offers. So what else to add?
