Although Nepal is best known for trekking, lots of rafting enthusiasts say that its rivers are among the best in the world. The little town of Damauli is one of the places where people start these trips on the water. There are a lot of different trips possible and most of them include a night in a tent on the river bank. 
The river Seti, which is very near, is the warmest in the country. It goes through the green jungle of Chitwan National Park and past several hamlets with children waving to us. They travel on the river in canoes they have dug out from tree trunks...
Travelling through this region at the rhythm of the river is truly a different way to travel, closer to nature and those who live in it, including the animals and birds. For me it was definitely the best way to go south from Pokhara! 
As the area was affected by the 2015 earthquake which took place after my visit I can't tell you whether it's still possible to do it.
