Malaysia is a surprising country in every way. And the cluster of lakes linked to one another that go by the name of Tasik Chini will definitely live up to expectations! If this is not the case, then maybe the lake's monster will leave you speechless; rumour has it that it haunts the depths!

On one side, the energetic and structured capital of Kuala Lumpur boasts skyscrapers as far as the eye can see, at its head the impressive Petronas towers, a typical Chinese quarter and an upturn in economic activity. On the other hand, the country is overflowing with heavenly islands, tropical beaches, and villages full of fish, exotic flora and fauna. Malaysia is also a joyful melting pot of origins and religions. Muslims, Buddhists, Taoists, Hindus and Christians share the country and offer an enchanting diversity of temples and cultural sites. This also makes for an extremely rich culinary culture, which is unanimously praised by visitors.

Taman Negara National Park is, I believe, one of the jewels of the Malayan peninsula that you absolutely must not miss. Composed of an immense tropical rainforest crossed by some waterways, the park shelters many species of animals and plants including elephants, tigers and rhinoceros or again rafflesias, the largest flower in the world, but also the worst smelling. To visit it, you will have a choice of different paths some of which are laid out and of easy access and others more sportive. It can get very hot and the paths are sometimes teeming with leeches. This said, the really incredible vegetation and the hikes in the forest are one of my best memories of Malaysia, trekking fans take note ! I also recommend the trail in the canopy of the trees, it is really impressive and the view from up there is magical.

if you are on Penang island during your trip to Malaysia the national park is a good place to visit. Free and easy to get to, the hiking trails there are pleasant. Even at the height of summer, you will find shade and beaches to cool you down. To enter the park you only have to register at the reception. At the entrance there is a public lavatory and a small supermarket (but the water is quite expensive). The hiking trails of Tama Negara are well-maintained overall and suitable for everyone , the most remote are 6 hours walk away in the jungle where there is a camp for you to spend the night. The most accessible are those that lead to the white sandy beaches. On the path that I took to reach Monkey Beach, I came across a family of monkeys, a varanus, as well as a multitude of colourful butterflies, what a complete change of scene!
