Antsirabe gets its name from "Any sira be", which means "the place with much salt". It rises to an altitude of nearly 5000 feet, and its hills are surrounded by thermal springs rich in mineral salts, perfect for a relaxing time during your trip.

Why not stop for a little swim? Because there are crocodiles living in the Tsiribihina River. A trip down the river in a motor barge or canoe is one of the best ways to discover the Malagasy west.

Katsepy can only be reached by crossing the bay of Bombetoka. To do this there are several solutions available: pirogue, boat or the "Baobab" ferry, which makes the crossing twice a day for a journey that takes about one hour. Once there, the area offers you some beautiful walks along the coast or inland... a must-do for walkers! For a fine view of the mouth of the Betsiboka River and surrounding area, a short hike of approximately 8 km will bring you to the foot of a lighthouse that offers a spectacular panorama. Not far from the lighthouse is the reserve of Antrema, which is home to many plant and animal species: lemurs, reptiles, birds and a large number of plants. A visit to the reserve will also be the occasion to meet the Ampanjaka - the local prince of the Sakalava tribe.
