It is at the top of Tokyo Tower in the Roppongi district that I fell in love with the Japanese capital. Inspired by the Eiffel Tower, its silhouette undeniably lends colour to the city's skyline. The glass floor of the main observatory, about 150 metres high, gives you the dizzying impression of walking in thin air. But the view is breathtaking. I loved it and didn't hesitate one second to pay an extra fee to go up to the second observatory, 100 metres above. From up there I watched the sunset and the night cover the city little by little. <a href="/japan/holidays/places/4480-tokyo/">There is some magical about watching Tokyo light up</a>! If Tokyo Tower gets (almost) all the attention, there is another curiosity worth a visit in Roppongi: Maman, a work representing a gigantic spider by the visual artist, Louise Bourgeois.
