Catch nature unawares as she wakes up...or at least that's what it feels like when you are on the wonderful 2,329 metre high Mount Bromo, on the east of the island of Java. An absolutely spectacular and unforgettable moment.  If you don't appreciate nature then don't bother!

If we have loved the Island of Gods, the pearl of Indonesia, which has had such great tourist success for many years now, we can't deny that it is suffering for its fame. It's really wonderful being at the top of Kelimutu volcano where you can admire the glorious colours of the craters' lakes. The colours change with the weather, but also according to the chemical make up of the water, which varies according to volcanic activity.
There are lots of locals selling tea and coffee to make the adventure more bearable.
I chose a 3 hour trek leaving from Maumere but apparently it's possible to climb it in 20 minutes if you start nearer to it. 
Of course, you are never alone in these places, and if you are there in high season then you can even expect a bit of a traffic jam if you arrive by car. 
If you can, check the weather because clear weather is essential if you are going to enjoy this unique place.
