Both in the interior of the island and on its beaches, there are lots of activities. Here are some ideas for interesting things to do on Bali during your stay in Indonesia.
Don't spend too much time in Kuta which isn't the most charming place on the island! But you should at least watch one sunset there because the beaches are spectacular, but that's all. It's highly developed for mass tourism and is a paradise for party animals.
Heading north, to the centre of the island, our first stop is Ubud Ubud is the culinary capital of Bali, so you'll be able to try lots of different things in this cultural town. For the most adventurous there are restaurants in the middle of rice paddies, which are an exceptional setting for exploring local cuisine! To find them you need to go out of town, but not too far, because the town is surrounded by rice paddies. It's also a good opportunity to rent a room or even a whole house in one of these fields of green. It's deeply romantic for lovers!
During the day you can rent a bicycle. It will give you hours of pleasure exploring beautiful corners and taking innumerable photos. There are also guided tours by bike which will give you the chance to meet other people and learn a bit more about the villages and countryside around the town.
And a stay in Ubud won't be complete without going to a traditional Balinese dance show. There are lots of them all round the town. They are professional dancers so the show is usually good.
If you haven't tried it yet, then Baii is the place to give diving a go! If you are already experienced, get your snorkel and go off exploring the island's magnificent underwater life.
One of the favourite dive sites for travellers is the wreck of the Liberty at Tulamben. The boat sank in 1942 only a few metres from the beach. The dive begins at the same level as the beach! What you can see underwater is indescribable and you are sure to remember it forever. If you are adventurous, there are organised trips at night which, apparently, is the best time to observe underwater life.
When should I visit Bali? The best time to visit the Island of Gods is between April and November. The average temperature is 30 degrees all year round, but between December and March is the rainy season, and it's not very pleasant to visit at this time of year.
