During my <a href="/india/">trip to India</a>, I did go trekking in the Zanskar region because I was afraid that I was not in the best physical condition. So I chose to trek the Markha valley, from Chilling to Shang Sumdo (5 days), something which I later regretted because it was really easy for me.
The valley of Markha is quite close to Zanskar but the tourists that I came across, who had started earlier than me were unanimous: it is that the Zanskar region is the most interesting.
Unlike the Markha valley, where it is possible to sleep and eat every night at a local resident's house, it is necessary to transport food for treks around Zanskar. The agencies in Leh will generally arrange for you to leave from Lamayuru, a small village perched in the mountains. Solo, you can find a guide and a donkey there.

In Zanskar you can do the most physical treks which are also the most interesting of Ladakh.

Zanskar... People come here, they get affected by it, and they always come back! It's surely one of the most isolated areas in the whole world. For 8 months of the year, roads that lead here are closed for snow.  I loved visiting Zanskar. Its residents, mostly peasants and monks, are lovable and very welcoming. The pristine landscapes are intense and take your breath away. During <a href="/india/">your trip to India</a>, it's the perfect place, well-known for trekking.
