Bundi is still one of my favourite places in India, particularly because the city has that characteristic Indian feel without the exhausting chaos and hectic pace of life of bigger cities. It's worth visiting Fort Taragarh and the Garh Palace with its labyrinth of corridors and coloured walls in the purest Rajasthan style.
When I was staying in India, the thing that really struck me was the friendliness of the Indians that I met at the Bundi guest house. We toured the surrounding area by motorbike and they took us to places virtually unknown to tourists, including a fabulous waterfall and other sacred places.

Although less famous and smaller than the cities in the Golden Triangle, Bundi is no less attractive thanks to its imposing fort and beautiful palaces.

Fort Taragarh, which is surrounded by walls, dominates the town. The walk there is absolutely beautiful and offers magnificent views of the town and its surroundings. I really enjoyed discovering this practically abandoned site with my friends. We felt like explorers upon entering each new section of the site where no guide or worker stood guard. The town itself is also splendid. I had an exceptional photography session during an entire afternoon, while discovering the many backstreets of Bundi that are surprisingly tranquil. Nothing to do with the other cities I saw during my <a href="/india/">itinerary in India</a>. In addition, Bundi has remarkable architecture that is intensely tinted in blue.

For me, Bundi is the hidden pearl of Rajasthan: a gem you discover by chance and then want to keep secret. The city is becoming more touristy with each passing year, but you are still far from the region's main tourist circuits there. When you visit the city, lying between Jaipur and Udaipur, and stand before its magnificent palace, you can almost touch the very essence of the magic of traditional India. Bundi's old town, with its blue buildings, like in Jodhpur, extends along the edge of its lake and numerous pools. When <a href="/india/">visiting India</a>, you can stay here for weeks on end without noticing it, simply feeling the pulse of this mysterious place. In short, this is more than just a stop-off between the region's large cities for me: it is truly a trip to a timeless place.
