Renovated in a romantic style at the beginning of the 19th century, Trsat castle at Rijeka, still has the outwardly austere and simple appearance of its original 13th construction, which can deceive visitors. But its situation, on top of a promontory and the view it has over Kvarner Bay, give it a very special place among the architectural riches of Croatia.

Pula has some wonderful architectural heritage to offer, with its exceptionally well-preserved amphitheatre a notable example of this. Visiting the city and immersing yourself in this historical past is a very enjoyable experience.

Croatia is a small treasure for all inquiring travellers: you will have the opportunity to discover a beautiful blend of nature, culture et turquoise waters. Diverse and unspoilt scenery, towns bursting with history and an intact coastline, all the rocks, pine forests and coves await you for your arrival. The cherry on top: the Croatians are welcoming and curious people, rich with a tasty, culinary tradition… You can explore the country from the north to the south, or even from the south to the north: there are 1700 kilometres of coastline and several 1,200 isles &amp; islands that you will have to discover. You will go from isle to isle on your own boat and you will stop there to have a stroll: the beauties of nature reveal themselves, and on many of the islands… this scene will not just be for you! Croatia also has eight national parks, as well as occasional encounters with unblemished fauna and flora. The destination is perfect for those who want to alternate between idle relaxation and sport, for example by spending time between tranquil sailing and hiking… And finally, this beautiful country is appreciated for its sublime towns, where the architecture will delight you. The capital, Zagreb, for example, is a subtle balance between historical wealth and modern town living…

Despite looking a little like Dubrovnik, with its magnificent old town surrounded by fortified walls and blue sea, Poreč has its own specific identity, an identity also shared by the region in which it is located, Istria. I particularly enjoyed being here, in the exquisite little town centre under the benevolent eye of its magnificent 7th-century basilica, which is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As everywhere in Croatia, unfortunately, I found the area around Poreč to be a bit spoiled due to the rapid construction of large hotel complexes for tourists and the excess of tourism-related activity that takes place there once summer arrives. This did not, however, prevent me from enjoying Poreč, which I would recommend visiting out of season so that you can better enjoy both the town itself and its coast, and not forgetting the region's wonderful and strongly Italian-influenced culinary specialities as well. Poreč is definitely somewhere worth making a stop at when visiting Croatia.
