Renovated in a romantic style at the beginning of the 19th century, Trsat castle at Rijeka, still has the outwardly austere and simple appearance of its original 13th construction, which can deceive visitors. But its situation, on top of a promontory and the view it has over Kvarner Bay, give it a very special place among the architectural riches of Croatia.

Pula has some wonderful architectural heritage to offer, with its exceptionally well-preserved amphitheatre a notable example of this. Visiting the city and immersing yourself in this historical past is a very enjoyable experience.

Rovinj really is a delightful place: an old city surrounded by the sea and dominated by a magnificent church, enchanting little streets, and a central square with a host of fresh fish and seafood restaurants located all around it. This really is a wonderful destination to visit when in Croatia, and all the more so when you consider that the area around the city has beautiful turquoise seas and glorious little beaches sheltered by the shade from the neighbouring forest to offer. As with all destinations in Croatia however, all this does not come without a price: you will not be the only ones visiting the city when you come here! If the crowds get too much for you, however, you can always get away from it all for a few hours by visiting some of the exquisite neighbouring villages, where things are a little more quiet and peaceful. The village of Bale, just a few miles away, is one such example.
