To be honest with you I would never have visited Trelew if I hadn't been invited by Luciana, an Argentine friend, to spend a long weekend.  Apart from the really good time I had with Luciana, I was a bit disappointed with how the town looked, although my friend had warned me that nowadays Trelew is a big industrial centre. I couldn't find any evidence of Welsh origins in the the town's architecture. However, the inhabitants are friendly and the beer flows freely in the little bars in the town centre!   The things I loved when I was in Trelew during <a href="/argentina/">my trip to Agentina</a> were mostly people and food. I tasted my first Patagonian lamb (cordero patagónico), and at tea time my first Argentine fruit cake (torta galesa) . My food loving soul would tell you that Trelew is worth a visit just for that! Finally, Trelew reminds us that Argentina is a country with a long history of immigration, a good example...

During my <a href="/argentina/">trip to Argentina</a> I went from Puerto Madryn to Trelew. The main tourist attraction of the region is the Valdés peninsula. As I knew that Trelew is the main town of the region I expected to find a lot of hotels and restaurants here. I was very disappointed and I recommend that you stay in Puerto Madryn. I didn't find a single reason for going to Trelew. Its only attraction might be the feeling of being in a small suburban town, but it is famous for being like an real Welsh town and it isn't. The only reason for going to Trelew is to try the plate of cakes that is served at tea time. Other than this there are too many other things to do and see in the region to waste your time in Trelew.
